ELAINE MILDRED LAYTON A Memorial Service for Elaine Mildred Layton Rice, 87, of Portales, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2011, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements for burial will be announced at a later time. Mrs. Rice was born Sept. 11, 1923 in Albuquerque, and died July 16, 2011 in Clovis. She was a professional secretary for a shipping company for many years. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Clark of Portales; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and two step-sons, Lee and Dee Rice.
