NORMA JEAN Age 87, of Prairie Village, KS passed away July 15, 2011. Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road Prairie Village, KS 66208. Contributions should be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145. Norma was born May 10, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA, to Dr. Guild and Lois Wood. Norma married Rolland Kaiser on November 16, 1944. Norma was very active in her church and was very giving of her time in many different community activities. Norma's involvement in her church was very important to her as is shown by teaching Jr. High Sunday School as well as with Stephen Ministry and Mission sewing. Some of the organizations that she was involved in include Wives of Rotary as president of Chapter 13 in Kansas City, president of her P.E.O. chapters, as well as many years of volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Norma also gave of her time during elections by working the voting polls as well as volunteering at various nursing homes by playing the organ or piano for the residents. Norma enjoyed ballroom dancing with The Kansas City Ball Club. Norma was preceded in death by her husband Rolland, of 46 years. She is survived by her sister, Betty Starkey; brother, Martin Wood; along with her five children, Lois Akin, Arden Kaiser, Robert Culligan, Amy Bruns, and Anne Ellis.
