Obituary for MENTON

JOSEPH B. JR. 1973- 2011. Former North Valley resident, passed away May 27, 2011, of complications following a vehicular crash. "Joey" attended Alameda Elementary and Hope Christian from 1979-87 and is the beloved son of Rosalind and Joseph B. Menton. Joey played football for Smithtown High (New York), where he graduated in 1991. He graduated with a BS in Exercise Physiology in 1996 at East Stroudsburg University, PA. He played Division II and was All-American his 3rd year. 1997-2000 he was arena football fullback/linebacker for the NYCitihawks and Florida Bobcats. In Myrtle Beach, SC, Joey founded his Menton Enterprises around construction services. Also an avid deep sea fisherman, he loved to compete in his vessel the "Joe Mama." Surviving are parents, Rosalind Menton (UNM) and Joe Menton of Smithtown, NY; sister Tanya L. Menton (Albuquerque Academy 1982) New York, NY; sister Sonja Menton Urrico (Hope Christian 1987) and nephew John Joseph Urrico of Medford, NY; and aunt Teresa Ainsworth (UNM Medicine 1991), Rochester, NY. Joey was our earth angel for 38 years. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 6, 2011, at Clayton Funeral Home, King's Park, NY.
