Janet Carter Cowart On May 15, 2011 after a valiant struggle, Janet Carter Cowart succumbed to cancer in Marietta, Georgia. A native New Mexican, she graduated valedictorian from Albuquerque High School in 1969, earned a BA from the University of Albuquerque, and a MBA from the Robert O. Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico. She was a novelist under the nom de plume Carly Laine, a brilliant computer programmer, a CPA, and an inspired jewelry designer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Shannon; children, Laurel (Josh), Annamarie, and Michael; grandchildren, Cole, Brady, and Wyatt; and brother, Douglas Carter (Betty Jo).
