Jesus Ramon (J.R.) Chavez, 96, a resident of Tome, NM passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011. Mr. Chavez is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Stella Chavez; children, Stephanie Papst, and Ron B. Chavez and wife, Rhea; grandchildren, Joshua R. Chavez and Ingrid Chavez, Jarrod Chavez and wife, Kristin, Zoi Merandah Chavez, Antonio Jesus Martinez and fiance, Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Cameron Chavez, Liam Chavez, Cerisa Chavez, Brendon Chavez, Devin Chavez, and Aidan Chavez; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon B. and Marcelina Chavez, and his brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., by Martha Herrera. Final visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 7 Church Lane, in Tome, NM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Father Jose Hernandez, presider. Interment will follow at the Chavez Family Plot. Pallbearers will be Ron B. Chavez, Joshua Chavez, Jarrod Chavez, Zoi M. Chavez, Joe Sanchez, and Charlie Sanchez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Antonio J. Martinez, Antonio Sanchez, Ramon Sanchez, and Victor Sanchez.
