Colita Schalbar, was welcomed home on April 15, 2011 at the age of 93. She was born August 2, 1917 in Brook Smith, TX to Tom and Nora Lee. She married Oscar Schalbar on March 23, 1936. She began her teaching career in Pie Town, NM and finished her career in Albuquerque at Mark Twain Elementary. Colita was a member of First Christian Church in Albuquerque, Association of Educational Retirees, Good Sam Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. Colita is survived by one son, Merle Lee (Joanne) Schalbar; two daughters, Shirley Ann (Coy) Burrell and Jeanne Chadwell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters. A service and fellowship gathering will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, Clovis, NM with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating.
