Ruth Thompson Hanckel (1951-2011) died suddenly of a broken heart two years after her beloved partner, Ellen Reavis, passed. She is survived by her sister Frances Hanckel of Portland, Oregon; her cats Harold and Maude and many friends. Ruth had a delightful wit and unsurpassed organizational skills. She enjoyed playing bridge, poker, writing short stories, travelling, margaritas and above all, hearing or telling a funny story. "We are not here for a long time. We are here for a good time."
