George Edwin Burroughs, 85, died on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at home after a short illness; He was born in Tannersville, New York. He is a long time resident of New Mexico, which he considered his home. He received his Engineering Degree at the University of New Mexico. Ed Burroughs lived a full life and wore many hats: surveyor, civil engineer, construction superintendent and safety officer were his major ones. He also was the first voluntary fire chief in Tijeras. As a non-lawyer, he argued his case before the New Mexico Supreme Court and carried the day. He is survived by his long time companion Julia Ashley and his step son, Gary Henderson and wife, Ann. He had many friends; his kindness will long be remembered. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service celebrating Ed's life will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at French-Lomas Chapel at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Joy Junction Homeless Shelter, 4500 2nd St. SW, Albuquerque, NM, 87105.
