Obituary for SEDILLO

Gavino R. Sedillo, a 98 year-old proud veteran of World War II, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Gavino lived a long and fruitful life and he went to our Lord peacefully in his sleep. Gavino was born in Monticello, New Mexico and lived there until he moved to Albuquerque in the early 1960's. While serving in the U.S. Army, he spent time constructing the Alaskan Highway and was also stationed in Normandy, France during WWII. Gavino was passionate about gardening, music, and his family. He had a great sense of humor and was known by all as an active jokester. He is survived by his wife, Margarita Sedillo; brother, Felix Sedillo; sister, Alfides Sedillo; four daughters: Elva Tapia and husband Troy, Rosalinda Garcia and husband Raul, Anabel Garcia-Trujillo and husband Ted, and Tilly Sedillo Roybal. He leaves eleven grandkids, ten great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will take place on Monday, April 25, at 6:00pm, at Risen Savior Church, 7701 Wyoming NE, followed by the Rosary at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at 10:00am at Risen Savior Church with burial to follow at 12:45pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
