Obituary for PAWLEY

Merle Pawley Jr., born of Ruth Bonte and Merle Pawley Sr. in Des Moines, Iowa on February 12, 1923 passed on April 18, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty, whom he married on April 3, 1943. As well as his four children, Jill Chrissinger (Mike), Jim Pawley (Pat), Pam Peterson (Rick), and Karen Trujillo (Buddy). Merle's family included eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Among Merle's many accomplishments throughout the course of his long life, was his service in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 which included service in the 147th AACS as a Radio Operator/Mechanic stationed in Saipan during WWII. After leaving the military, he began a very long and accomplished career in data processing. He was instrumental in the initial developmental and continued use of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Database which is used by all law enforcement agencies within the U.S. He was also an active member of DPMA, an avid golfer and traveler, and they belonged to the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church. As per the family's request, no memorial services will be held.
