Obituary for JACOT-GUILLARMOD

Simone Laura Jacot-Guillarmod, born November 21, 1915, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the age of 95. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Simone embraced her Swill heritage with French as her first language. At the age of nine, Simone moved to America and became a US citizen. She completed her high school education while learning English. Subsequently, she finished vocational school in East Orange, New Jersey. Proud of her brothers, Jack and Edward, who served with the US Army during World War II in the European theater, she somehow united them for a visit in Great Britain. USO miraculously let the brothers' furlough together for a short time while bombs were bursting above. In 1924, at the age of nine, she lived briefly in NY before moving to New Jersey where she resided for 63 years until 1987. During this time she worked for the Eskimo Pie Co., the Florsham-Park Swiss Bank in NYC and Allied Chemical Corp. Simone retired at age 62 and volunteered at the Florham Park Library. As a talented artist she exhibited her works at many venues. She as a member of Morris County Art Association, specializing in sketch boards and water color paintings, along with a few other types of art media. Not only creating but collecting art, she managed many exhibitions of dolls which she obtained throughout her impressive world travels. She then moved to Rio Rancho in 1987 where she resided for 24 years. While living in the Land of Enchantment she loyally corresponded with lifelong friends and family. Simone was a woman filled with great memories and stories that will be passed on forever. She will be missed. Simone is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.
