Obituary for DESJARDINS

Joseph Louis Philip Desjardins, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, joined his beloved wife, Mary on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He is survived by his children, Donald and wife, Pennie of Colorado Springs, CO, Patrick of Lewisville, TX, and Debbie Burrell and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brandi and Colin Burrell; and many other family and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary. Mr. Desjardins grew up in Brunswick, ME. He joined the US Army at age 17, left after two years to finish his education, re-enlisted and retired after 26 years of service. He had tours of duty in Italy, the DC area, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. Joseph and Mary met and were married while both were on active duty and stationed at the Pentagon. He received the Bronze Star among other awards. Joseph dedicated the last few years of his life to taking care of his wife. He was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
