Obituary for LOWERY

D. Duane Lowery, 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Lowery of the family home; son, Scot Lowery and wife, Trish of Edgewood; and his one special granddaughter, Morgan Lowery. Duane was born in Mt. Vernon, IL on July 21, 1924. After marrying Betty in 1947, they later moved to Albuquerque and began their family. He served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea. Duane earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. Duane began his professional career with Mountain Bell which later became Qwest, retiring in 1983, after 33 years. Duane and Betty spent many years traveling in their motor home, with the Aristocrat Caravaners. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at French ~ Wyoming Chapel.
