Obituary for CHAVEZ

Tony Nieto Chavez, 81, suddenly passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at around 1:00 p.m. of a heart attack at his home. A lifelong resident of the TorC area and Graduate of Monticello H.S. '47 (Lions). He was a retired (41 yrs. service) Heavy Equip Engineer with the USDA- Cibola National Forest Headquartered in Albuquerque. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army 103rd Airborne Division who honorably served during the Korean Conflict: 1951-53. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed playing dominoes and poker; and always being there for his family and friends. He was born on October 18th, 1929 to Rafael Chavez and Louisa Baca (Nieto) now deceased. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years Alfie Archuleta and three sons: Anthony (Bernice) of Cuchillo, Aron (Barbara) of TorC, and Carl (Renell) of Rio Rancho. The grandkids are: Jada, Ciera, Briana, Danielle, Aron-Lee (Barbra), and Adrian. The great-grandkids are: Michael, Mathew and Mary. His brothers and sisters are: Louie Chavez (deceased of Monticello), Carlota "Tita" Buenning (deceased of Las Cruces), Mary and Jimmie Vallejos (Socorro), and Robert "Bobbie" Chavez (of Las Cruces). The family would like to thank his friends and family who were there for him. He enjoyed socializing with everybody he met or knew. He will be missed. No services are planned.
