Obituary for BLACKBURN

Stanley Blackburn Jr., 93, died March 9, 2011 after a brief illness. He is survived by his sons, Robert L Blackburn and wife Melissa, Stanley E "Ted" Blackburn and John A Blackburn and wife Pam; grandchildren: Danielle Darpli and husband John, Curtis Alexander and wife Michelle, Rachel Acosta and husband Joe, and Karen Carr and husband Jeff and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Roberta Savage, Hazel Morgan and Wilma Hatz and many other family and friends. Mr. Blackburn worked for the US Department of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife as a regional personnel officer before retiring in 1973. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo and also singing. Stanley and Vesta had the opportunity to go camping and fishing many times in New Mexico. He was a life member of Temple Lodge #6 AF & AM, the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple and past worthy Patron of Ada Chapter #5 of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as a member of St Johns United Methodist Church since 1961. Services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m., March 17, 2011 at French - Lomas location. Private burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., also at French.
