Obituary for DELGADO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 30, 2011

Robert Delgado, 61, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011. He is survived by his wife Janet Delgado; son Andrew Delgado; siblings Gloria (Julia) Cotter, John Delgado, his twin Albert Delgado, Christina De Vore, Mark Robinson and wife Susan, and Eddie Robinson and wife Linda. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Juanita and Dale Bennett. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Robinson, and his stepfather, Elbert Robinson. Robert was born and raised in Tularosa, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Robert continued his service to his country for more than 31 years as a civilian employee, serving with a variety of organizations and joining Materiel Test Directorate (MTD) of White Sands Missile Range as an Electronics Technician in 1990. During his career, Robert served in a number of branches within MTD to include Measurements Branch and, most recently, Air and Missile Defense Branch. In this capacity, he supported a variety of missions and tests of high importance. Robert was a valuable member of the MT team; his professional attitude, technical expertise, and most importantly his "joie de vivre" will be greatly missed. Robert was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and friend. He was a devoted member of St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church. He enjoyed travelling, camping, spending time in the mountains, and taking care of the many trees he planted. We have been left with great sadness, but Robert will always be in our hearts. A rosary will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m., and a memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. Both will be at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Father Max Hottle, OFM, will preside. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow services on Monday.
