Obituary for MONTOYA

Epifanio Montoya, 98, died January 24, 2011, with family by his side. He was born in Jemez Springs, NM on November 15,1912 and lived in San Ysidro for 58 years. He served honorably in the US Army during WWII shortly after marrying his wife of 59 years Lenore Gonzales-Montoya who departed us in July 1993. He worked as a lumberjack for the White-Pine Lumber Company & Caldwell Lumber he also was a mail contractor for 55 years. He was a lifelong cattle rancher which was his pride and joy, he continued riding horses until the age of 93. He is survived by his son James Montoya, wife Eva; daughter Julia Aragon, husband Fidencio; grandchildren, Kim, Julian, Gregory, Jeff, Donna, Debra and Brenda; and 19 great - grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons Julian, Gregory and Jeff, godson Martin Romero, "second son" Benny Maestas and nephew Tony Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Perea, Felix Griego and Ivan Trujillo. Special thanks to the staff at the Beehive Assistance Living Facility in Rio Rancho, and a heartfelt thanks for my sisters Esther and Eloisa who so graciously and lovingly cared for my dad in his home for over two years. The family will receive guests for a all night wake on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., at the San Ysidro Catholic Church. Rosary will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with funeral service immediately following. There will be no entombment at this time.
