Obituary for LUCERO

Natalie V. Lucero, 63, of Albuquerque NM, passed away January 26, 2011, after a long illness and has gone to be with our Lord and Saviour. She was born August 19, 1947, in Santa Fe NM to Samuel and Susana Lucero and was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Christobal, Americo and Jimmy. She is survived by brothers, Mike, Juan, and Sam; sisters, Esperanza Smith, Mae Gonzales (Alfonso), Terri Orton, and Lourdes Davis; several nieces, nephews; cousins; and one aunt (Rachel). She served in the U.S. Army, and was one of eleven thousand American women who served in the military during the Vietnam War. On Veteran's Day, November 11, 1993, Natalie was among those invited to represent nurses at the unveiling of the Vietnam Women's Memorial at the Vietnam Wall on the National Mall in Washington D.C. Until recently, she was employed as a nurse in the Spinal Cord Injury ward of the Veterans Hospital. Natalie showed a spirit of caring, strength, and commitment. She leaves a legacy of healing and hope and generosity. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m., on January 29, 2011 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd. N.E. Albuquerque, NM. Interment will be held on January 31, at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America , 801 18th St., NW, Washington DC 20006
