Joe P. Hollingsworth, Lt. Col. Ret., 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Albuquerque on January 23, 2011. He was born in Mississippi in 1931, attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated from the University of Massachusetts. He was in the Air Force for 24 years, serving in Viet Nam, and lastly at Kirtland Air Force Base in AFOTEC. He was a member of St. Mark's on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church and served on the vestry, and more recently at the Cathedral of St. John. He is survived by his wife, Katherine G. Hollingsworth; his children, Gary Hollingsworth of St. Louis, MO, Mary Paul Forsyth of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Jo Eldridge of Lubbock, TX, Clyde W. Shores of Lake Forest, IL, Sandra Smith of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Wagner of Albuquerque, NM; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; four sisters; and a brother; and Riley, the dog. A celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011, at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church.
