Mitch Turnbough, 57. Funeral services for Mitch Turnbough, 57, currently of Albuquerque will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Portales with Rev. Brian Tabor officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery. Mitchell Lynn Turnbough was born July 2, 1953 in Portales, NM to the home of Wanda and Manford E. Turnbough and died January 24, 2011 in Clovis, NM. Mitch was a 1971 graduate of Texico High School where he played basketball and football. Sports remained very important to him for the remainder of his life. He had lived in Albuquerque since 2005, and had coached girls' Volleyball and Basketball at Evangel Christian School. Through the years, he had coached baseball, softball, football, volleyball and basketball teams. While living in Portales, two of his Little League Basketball teams qualified for Nationals. On October 13, 1974 in Clovis, he was married to Sharon Lee Reed. Mitch had served as Minister of Music, Youth or in the pulpit as pastor of various Baptist churches in Texas and New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Albuquerque; four children, Matthew (Christy) Turnbough, Robert Turnbough and Kirstyn Turnbough all of Portales and Janna (Daniel) Hackett of Clovis; two grandchildren; his mother, Wanda Turnbough of Texico, NM and a brother, David Turnbough. He was preceded in death by his father. Arrangements are under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Portales. 575-356-4455
