Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday January 13, 2011

KAYLIN TRU BENAVIDEZ Our most precious angel was embraced by our Lord on January 10, 2011. Kaylin Tru was born on August 10, 2004. She was diagnosed with brain cancer on September 14, 2010. Kaylin Tru showed us how to be strong. She never once cried or complained during her battle with cancer. She is our inspiration. Kaylin was a brilliant six year old who loved the color pink. She was a very active girl who loved the outdoors, especially the mountains around the Pecos area in Northern New Mexico. She was a very thoughtful young lady who taught us to look at the world differently and mothered everyone she met. Forever our hero. Kaylin left behind her parents, Robert and Jeanette Benavidez; her grandparents, Marvin and JoAnn Guhl and Bobby and Katrina Benavidez; her great-grandmothers, Angelica Lopez and Frances Esquibel; her Nana, Precilla Loya; her Nina (Aunt) Jennifer and son Matthew (Kaylin's brother); her Nino (Uncle) Juan, wife Aunt Cindy and their children Elizabeth and Estevan; aunt Melorie and uncle Bobby and their children Tattiana and Aaron; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Felipe and Gregorita Lopez; great-grandfathers, Gene Lopez and Tito Esquibel; great-grandparents, Merrell and Loraine Guhl and Domingo and Maria Benavidez; uncle Manuel Benavidez and many family members and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony's Parish in Pecos. Burial will follow at the Pecos Cemetery.
