Marian Lieuwen, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; and her sister, Marjorie. She is survived by one daughter, Catherine Lieuwen of Albuquerque; four sons, James Lieuwen of Albuquerque, Andrew Lieuwen and wife, Laurie, and their two children, Emma and Taylor, of Albuquerque, Peter Lieuwen and wife, Bonnee, of College Station, Texas, and John Lieuwen of Albuquerque. She will be deeply missed as a caring, devoted friend and mother. Marian had a sincere passion for the arts, studying art history in classes at the University of New Mexico throughout her life. She also loved classical music, British fiction, museums of fine art, European travel and celebrations with her family; taking great delight in her children's and grandchildren's accomplishments. Her family and many friends will miss her as a sincere, sensitive and optimistic person who cared deeply for them as they did for her. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her as a wonderful mother and grandmother. A service honoring her life will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chamber Music Albuquerque at www.cma-abq.org.
