Obituary for BANDY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Monday December 27, 2010

Lorraine Irene Bandy, 60, passed on peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 with family by her side after a long and valiant fight with breast cancer. Lorraine, a resident of Rio Rancho, was born in September of 1950 in eastern Oregon. She and her family relocated to Santa Fe, NM where she graduated from Santa Fe High School and also met her first husband and father of her children, Ray Bandy. They were married in 1969 and called Santa Fe their home until 1978 when they relocated to Albuquerque. In later years, she returned to Oregon to be with her family but ultimately joined her sons and grandchildren back in N.M. Lorraine was a devoted mother and grandmother who was full of love for all children. She was caregiver for many children, both her own and those she considered to be her own, during her tragically short 60 years of life. She will always be remembered by these numerous children, many grown with kids of their own, as "Mom", "Grandma Lorraine", "Grandma Rainie", "Miss Rainie" among a host of other loving titles. She will also be remembered as the gentle, kind, soft-spoken and eternally smiling woman who worked with the public in both the banking and retail sales industries in New Mexico and Oregon. She leaves behind her son, Louis, his wife Rachel and their children, Louis Jr., Rayna, Autumn, and Julianna; son, James, his wife Tricia and their children James Jr. (J.J.) and Brooke; older brother, Ray Davis and his wife Linda, all residents of Rio Rancho; older sister, Sheryl Taylor and husband Bill of Hillsboro, OR; younger brother, Jessie Davis and wife Kathy of Kaufman, TX; many nieces, nephews and numerous other loving family and friends. Her life will be celebrated at Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ, 7201 Montgomery Blvd. NE at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 28, 2010. In lieu of flowers, Lorraine wished that we all continually support cancer research within our community by donating to the NM Cancer Care Alliance at http://www.nmcca.org/about/donate.htm. We love and miss you and will see you again one day.
