ALICE PETERSON 1915-2010. Alice Peterson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, died peacefully December 11, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. She was a resident here for the past 68 years. She was born in 1915 in Lake Preston, South Dakota. Her favorite season was Christmas, celebrating her rich Norwegian heritage of family cookies, music and flowers. She taught her family to continue her legacy of making leftse, the traditional Norwegian potato bread. She was an artist in handcrafts and often had handmade afghans for presents. She had a beautiful voice, and sang out at her services in St. Paul Lutheran Church and in choirs. A Lutheran church member all her life, she was active and giving in the many events and programs at St. Paul. Alice treasured her friendships there. These past seven years she has been a resident of Manzano Del Sol's nursing care facility, when kind nurses and aides helped her with her needs. Her husband of 47 years, Harold Peterson, died in 1984. They loved traveling and toured the West visiting historic sites. She is survived by her brother Floyd Hedberg of Richmond VA; children and spouses Clara and Jeffrey Mashek of Hillsboro, OR; Art and Carolyn Peterson of Albuquerque and Richard and Becki Peterson of Phoenix, AZ. Her grandchildren are Jim and John Mashek and Jill and Gary Peterson. Her great-grandchildren are Miles Mashek and Melissa Mashek and Zachary and Sawyer Peterson. She has many much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial celebration with Chaplin Cullen Woods will be held at Manzano del Sol's chapel at 1:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 19, 2010.
