Debra Lee Diller, 56, beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter, went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 2, 2010 following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Deb was born December 27, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA, attended college at Appalachian State in North Carolina and came to Albuquerque in 1975 to begin her teaching career with APS. Her long and successful career included teaching special education at Truman and Taylor Middle Schools and Mitchell Elementary School. She touched the lives of many during her 34-year teaching career. Deb is survived by her loving family, husband of 30 years, Rich; daughters, Ashley and Kimberly of Las Vegas, NV; son, Ryan of Tucson, AZ; sister, Jeannie DeCanditis (Mike) of Ruidoso, NM and mother, Helen Boast (Roy) of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Gundel. Deb lived life to the fullest and greatly enjoyed teaching, singing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was truly an angel on earth, always putting everyone before herself. Deb was a friend to everyone she met and will be greatly missed by countless people. A memorial service to celebrate Deb's life will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, 87122; a reception will follow at the church's Family Life Center.
