Helen Mitchener born in Belen, NM but a long time resident of Albuquerque, NM left this world to be with the Lord on November 21, 2010. She braved a short term battle of Urothelial Cancer. She was always the first to help out family and her many friends when needed. She will be missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her three daughters: Eloisa Chavez, Bend, OR, Eileen Murray and husband Jim, Elaine Lucero and husband Lee all of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren include: Jason Gonzales, Chris Lucero, Leticia Lucero, Doug Simms, Jr.; and great-grandchild Jose Lucero. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Gonzales; and grandson Justin Burkhart. She is also survived by three brothers: Luciano Chavez and wife Naomi, Adam Chavez and Mary Ellen, and George Chavez all from Belen, NM; four sisters: Stella Fuentes, Margaret Gallegos and husband Fred both from Albuquerque, Susie Chavez and Rita Romero both from Belen, NM. She also had many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Her funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church located at 8901 Candelaria NE, Albuquerque, NM. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Helen Mitchener to Joy Junction.
