Lupita Martinez passed away in the presence of family on November 24, 2010 in her home in Albuquerque. She and her family were long-time residents of Wagon Mound, which she considered home. She was born in el Canon Largo on the 26th of December 1913 and was raised in el Jardin on the Rio Mora. She married Jose Roque Martinez on December 31, 1934. They farmed and ranched in partnership with her parents until 1945 when she and Roque moved their family to Wagon Mound where they lived and raised their children. Her biggest goal in life was to keep her family together and close to her. Born to Gregorita and Juan Aragon she was raised by her aunt Isidora and her husband Eliseo Maestas. She is survived by a brother Pete Aragon, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband, Jose Roque Martinez and son, Juan, preceded her in death. Lupe was a loving mother and grandmother She is survived by eight children, Aurora Armijo, Cecilo and wife Bernice, Benancio and wife Molly, Jose R. and wife Jenny, Robert and wife Diane, Sofia and companion Richard, Mary Lou Gutierrez and husband Abram; and her daughter-in-law Pricilla Martinez; She is also survived by 23 grandchildren: Ernest Armijo and wife Katherine, Eloy Armijo and wife Liz, Anna Romero and husband Mickey, Kathy Gonzales and husband Chris, Loretta Salazar and husband George, Betty Johnson and husband Melvin, Ricky Armijo and wife Donna, Clarence Martinez and wife Eloisa, Mervin Martinez and wife Karen, Natalie Trujillo and husband Ronnie, Denise Padilla and husband Esqui, Julie Padilla and husband Mario, Abie Martinez who preceded her in death, Anna Marie Martinez, Freddie Martinez, Georgette and husband George, Kelly Martinez and companion Jerrod Sandon, Colleen Mraz and husband Shawn, Kendra Schmitt and husband Skyler, Kimberly Martinez and companion Mariano Sanchez, Brian Martinez, Jose Andres Martinez and companion Leann, Bianca and companion Jay, Eliseo Martinez and Brenda Gutierrez; She is also survived by 45 great-grandchildren (three on the way) and 32 great-great grandchildren. "Esa es herencia!" she would say. Services will be held in Wagon Mound where she will be buried beside her husband; parents; and grandson. The Hermanos Penitentes will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday at the Santa Clara Catholic Church. The mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., at the Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Paul Nkumbi as celebrant followed by internment at the Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers are: Cecilio Martinez, Ben Martinez, Junior Martinez, Jose Andres Martinez, Robert Martinez and Kathy Gonzales.
