Obituary for HITCHNER

Anita Lou Hitchner, 84, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 25, 2010. Anita was born September 24, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Hardee and Lola Guynes, and she was born again at the age of 12, trusting Christ as her personal Savior through the truth of Galatians 2:20: . .the Son of God loved me and gave Himself for me. She had been a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1928. Anita graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1944, and in 1947 she married her true love, Donald Hitchner. Anita and Donald through the years opened their home to so many people, both local and out-of-town visitors. Anita was known for her wonderful hospitality and care for others, a service she performed as unto the Lord. She was a great listener, taking time to hear what was going on in others' lives. Anita was truly an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother, manifesting genuine care, concern and love for each individual as well as praying faithfully for each one. Anita is survived by her devoted, loving husband of nearly 63 years, Donald Hitchner; and her five daughters, Donita and husband Steve, Marilyn and husband Philip, Joyce, Linda and husband Duane, Sheryl and husband Chuck; and family friend Larry Chavez; She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Jonathan and wife Melissa, Lynnette, Donald and wife Sarah, Sharon and husband Andrew, Michael and wife Rachel, Ryan and wife Charlotte, Yvonne, Candace, Paula, Julia, Westley and William; two great-grandchildren, Christianna and Isaac; as well as her brother, Clayton Guynes and wife Patsy; brothers-in law, Hubert, Jerry and Farel Hitchner; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. McAneny and each one at the New Mexico Cancer Center as well as to Patricia Fernandez from Presbyterian Homecare and Patty Mork and Amanda Lowe from Hospice of the Sandias who all lovingly cared for Anita. The family also wants to express their appreciation to each one who showed their love for Anita through their prayers, by their calls, e-mails, preparing meals and sending cards and flowers. A visitation will be held Monday at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at French's Mortuary at 1111 University NE. Funeral service will be held Tuesday 11:00 a.m., also at French's Mortuary.
