Eileen W. Kemper, 96, of Albuquerque passed away on November 3, 2010. She was born October 21, 1914, to John J. and Olga Stubsten Weiss, in Lennox, South Dakota. She was a life long learner. She attended the Lennox schools and completed the two year course at Sioux Falls College. She later received a BA in Education from the University of Arizona and a MS in Education from New Mexico Western University, in Silver City, NM. She also attended the University of Nebraska, Eastern New Mexico University, and did much post graduate work at UNM. While in Arizona she worked for several years as a secretary. She was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Ft. Bayard as secretary to the Hospital Director. Eileen taught special education in Albuquerque Public Schools until retirement. She had many interests and talents. She had worked with the AAUW and Red Cross. Interests included travel, archeology and photography, and she had written articles published in the New Mexico Magazine. She loved art and music. She won many awards for her violin music and played with a symphony orchestra. Eileen had resided at La Vida Llena retirement center for 22 years. While there, she worked on many committees and volunteered to help those who were less able. She will be remembered at a Memorial service at La Vida Llena in December 2010. Cremation has taken place.
