Obituary for RAEBURN

Allene Louise (Meller) Raeburn died on October 20, 2010, while sleeping peacefully, happy and in love. She was born to Meleta (Koch) and Christian F. Meller on September 30, 1930 near Booker, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Alex Raeburn; son, Willis Wimber and wife, Allie; daughter, Sherry Meurer and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Brandon Dubois, Christopher Meurer and Dawn Gallegos; great-grandson, Elijah Gallegos; step-children, Judy and Wally Soderquist and their daughters, Kirsten and Amanda, Deborah and Rock Tope, Marcia and Larry Weingarten and their son, Jeremiah; sister, Carol Cox; brothers, Leroy and Vernon Meller; sisters-in-law, Marlene Meller and Nina Wimber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Allene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willis Doyle Wimber, Sr.; brothers, Arthur George Meller and Kenneth Lee Meller; sister-in-law, Eva (Thompson) Meller; daughter; Janice Louise Wimber; son, Randy Lenn Wimber; and grandchildren, Hope, Joseph and Patrick Wimber. Allene loved ballroom dancing and regularly attended the senior center dances, where she met and fell in love with Major (Ret) Alexander Raeburn, who shared her love for dancing. They were married on January 29, 2005, and lived and acted like young newlyweds every day until her death. Her deep and abiding faith continues to be an inspiration to her family and those who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at French-Lomas Chapel, with a celebration of Allene's life to follow at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Allene's name to a charity of your choice.
