Robert O. (Bob) Wilson, of San Angelo, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010. He was born in San Angelo on June 5, 1925 to John Wesley and Maggie Jane Wilson. Bob joined the U.S. Navy on August 23, 1943. He served with the Sea Bees in the South Pacific and was a member of the first unit to land at Tokyo Bay after the Armistice was signed. He was Honorably Discharged as a Machinist Mate, 2nd Class on January 3, 1946. On November 17, 1946, Bob married Nadine Hilburn, who would remain his partner for life. On February 6, 1947 he opened Wilson Tire. He and Nadine began their family that same year and would have three sons and a daughter. Two of the boys would eventually join Bob in the incorporation of the business into Wilson Tire, Wheel, and Auto, as it still stands today. Bob had a licensed bail bond business for over 40 years. Multiple generations of the Wilson family learned a strong work ethic while employed under Bob's watchful eye. Owning a family business allowed Bob the freedom to exercise his passion for helping others. His time and money were always available to anyone in need, including youth groups, community farmers and ranchers, and anyone experiencing a rough patch of life. After 63 years under Bob's leadership the business will continue with his spirit of community involvement. Bob was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Post 1815. He also served several years as a member of the Southside Lions Club. Bob was also a football enthusiast and did not miss a Bobcats or Cowboys game. Bob is survived by his wife, Nadine Wilson; three sons, Bobby and wife Linda, Johnny and wife Sandra, and Rodger and wife Molly, all of San Angelo; and one daughter, Gail Wilson of Weir, TX; He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kerry Ann Ramirez and husband Mike of San Angelo, TX, Dena Wilson of San Angelo, TX, Chisom and wife Jennifer of Albuquerque, NM, Chelsea Doherty and husband Pat of Alamogordo, NM, Chesney Watson and husband Thomas of Valdosta, GA, Deja Elder of Yellowstone National Park, WY, and Tina Martinez and Kimberly Wilson, both of San Angelo; Bob also had 15 great-grandchildren, Kelly, Kayla, Klorissa, Michael, Kade, Carter, Bryce, Cecily, Sean, Shawntiel, Shivayah, Sabrina, Megan, Alexis, and Tiffany; and three great-great-grandchildren.
