Dr. Frank J. Durcan, formerly of Fredericksburg Virginia, passed away at his home in Bernalillo, NM on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, following a long illness borne with great courage in the loving care of his companion, Marsha Souers. Dr. Durcan is survived by his children, Mark, Sara and Christopher; his daughters-in-law, Tracy and Martha; his seven grandchildren, Addy, Jack, Miranda, Cooper, Matthew, James and Matilda; and his siblings, Michael, Jim and Maura. Dr. Durcan was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Peggy. After immigrating to the U.S. from Ireland in 1967, Dr. Durcan began his career as an OB-GYN in private practice in Woodstock, Virginia in 1971. He moved to Fredericksburg in 1978, and established his OB-GYN practice at the Pratt Medical Center. After nearly 35 years of faithful service to his community, attending to countless patients and delivering thousands of children into the world, Dr. Durcan retired to New Mexico. He enjoyed five wonderful years in New Mexico before succumbing to cancer. A private service will be held in New Mexico, and a burial service will be held in Ireland.
