Obituary for ASHLAND

Edward L. Ashland, 95, was born February 24, 1915 in Rockville, Connecticut. He passed away in his Albuquerque home on August 22, 2010. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew (Mickey) J. and Helen Ashland of Rockville, Connecticut; his daughter-in-law, Charlotte Ashland of Cresswell, Oregon; his two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Darrell Richards of Watsontown, Pennsylvania, and Linda and James Dotson of Albuquerque. He dearly loved his surviving six grandchildre;n and ten great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Catherine (Kay) Ashland (nee Phillips); his son, Donald E. Ashland; and a grandson, Phillip Armstrong. Edward enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and he proudly served his country as a veteran of WWII. His final duty station was at the U.S. Navy Special Weapons Unit at Sandia Base in Albuquerque. He retired from the Navy in 1964. He then worked for Sandia Labs for 21 years, until he retired in 1985. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 9:00 a.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. Following the service, interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
