Herbert "Herb" William Loemker, 83, a resident of Corrales and Albuquerque since 1956, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010. He is survived by his children, Vickie Loemker and husband, John Zubialde of Norman, OK, Randall Loemker and wife, Carol of Prescott, AZ, Rhonda Jones and husband, Scott of Albuquerque, and Grant Loemker and wife, Karen of San Angelo, TX; eight grandchildren, John Michael and David Robert "Robie" Zubialde, Amanda Howard and husband, Michael, Leah Hardwick and husband, Michael, Lucas and Claire Jones, and Rebecca and Jonathan Gallegos; sister, Bernita Balzer and husband, Robert of Topeka, KS; and numerous other relatives and friends. Herb was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Lois Ann Schifferdecker in 2004; and sister, Delores Schierkolk in 2009. He was born on September 11, 1926 in Bremen, KS to Walter and Alma Nieman Loemker and attended a one-room school house as a child. Although he had to quit school to work on the family farm, he still developed a breadth of knowledge which would rival many who completed school. Later he got his GED and received an Associates Degree in Electronics. Herb entered the U.S. Army in 1951 where he received a Bronze Star. He was discharged into the Reserves in 1955 and became an employee of Sandia National Laboratories where he worked as an electronics technician until his retirement in 1992. Herb was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served in numerous capacities at different times, as a Church Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Christian Education, President of the Congregation, and faithfully taught an adult Sunday School Class for many years, along with singing in the choir. Herb enjoyed farming, woodworking, gardening, camping and photography. His primary love was his family and his Lord. Herb was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends and family may visit French-Wyoming Chapel, Friday, August 27, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold Ave. SE, Saturday, August 28, 2010, 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Monday, August 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Randy Loemker, Grant Loemker, John Zubialde, Scott Jones, John Michael Zubialde, Robie Zubialde, and Jonathan Gallegos In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran World Relief, 700 Light Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21230 or Lutheran Bible Translators, P.O.
