Fred A. Chavez Sr., 74, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 7, 2010. Mr. Chavez is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Pauline Chavez; his children, Freddie Chavez Jr. and wife, Berna, Joe Chavez and wife, Merlinda, Annette Saiz and husband, Louie, Donna Chavez, Larry Chavez and wife, Michelle, and Rosemary Gonzales and husband, Joseph; his brothers, Jerry Chavez Sr. and wife, Isabel, and Manuel Chavez and wife, Antonia; 15 grandchildren, Renee, Joey Jr., Larry Jr., Michelle, LeRoy, Matthew, Nathon, Josh, Valerie, Jeremy, Louie Jr., Anthony, Jacob, Logan, and Lucas; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Chavez worked at Rio Grande Steel for 30 years; He was a man of integrity who loved his family. Mr. Chavez was a Veteran of the United States Army. A time of remembrance will be Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. Final Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Jerry Steinmetz, presider. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Tommy Sena, Orlando Vigil, Jerry Chavez Jr., Joseph Gonzales, Louie Saiz, and Michael Macias.
