James Milo Sikkink, 77, passed away Wednesday July 21, 2010. James Milo Sikkink was born on July 4, 1933 in Webster, South Dakota. He grew up on a farm south of Webster known as the Milo Sikkink Farm. He attended grades 1-8 in Rural School District 213 taught by Dorothy Knutson (Drake) and Sam Bender. His first year of high school was in Watertown but he graduated from Webster High in 1951. He farmed with his father until entering the Air Force in March 1953. The Air Force was looking for kids who had grown up on farms and know how to repair machinery. His basic training was in San Antonio, TX. Aircraft and engine school was in Wichita Falls, TX. In November 1953, he was assigned to the 2900th Bomb Squadron at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. In November 1954, he married Alice Salazar in Santa Fe, NM. That same month he was assigned to a B-25 (Medium Bomber) and from the time on was responsible for the Aircraft "Crew Chief" and traveled with the aircraft. He had 1020 hours of flight time when he was honorably discharged in 1958. The next 10 years he was a supervisor in the Accounting Department of PNM in Santa Fe, NM. In 1972 he purchased the Townhouse Motor Hotel in Albuquerque, which he sold in 1982. He was in the Electrical Contracting business until his retirement in 2000. He kept busy during his retirement taking care of 5 rental homes and a restaurant he owned. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, major league baseball, basketball, football, and NASCAR racing events. He made hunting and fishing trips to Alaska, Canada, and Mexico. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike. He is survived by two sisters: Mary Folger and husband Chuck, and Sally Rae, both from South Dakota. He is also survived by three sons: Ben, and wife Becky, Arnold and wife Renee, and Timothy all from Albuquerque; and his ex wife Alice. He was proud of his grandsons George, Milo, Adam and Garrett, and great-grandchildren Berlin and Cayden. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
