Nina Simmons, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 after courageously fighting breast cancer for two years. She was born January 16, 1920. Nina is survived by her husband, James, of 54 years; sons, Gary and wife, Bonnie of Albuquerque, and Jimmy and wife, Tammy of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Kassie and Karlee of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews in Alabama and Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin, son of Jimmy and Tammy. Nina enjoyed spending time with her family and conversing about family history. She loved to talk and the sound of her voice will be missed. Nina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be truly missed. Family and friends may visit French - University Chapel on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Services will be held Monday, July 12, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
