Obituary for CROWNOVER

Kathleen Allen Crownover passed away on June 12, 2010. She was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio on January 16, 1916. Kathleen and her family moved to Albuquerque in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lane Crownover. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Thibert and husband, Paul of Rockville Connecticut, and Kristi Smaby and husband Steve of Salinas, California; she shared her love with four grandchildren, Melissa Mayberry, Joan Kachiros, Michael Thibert, and Robert Thibert; her nephew, Joseph Sedelmaier; and her "adopted Albuquerque kids," Merri Rudd and husband Mark Hinton. . She was also blessed with four great grandsons, Drew, Eric, Sam and Ben. Kathleen worked in the medical field most of her career. In the late sixties, she joined forces with other women and lobbied to have all newborns tested for PKU, which became a state law. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America, and was a dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as state president. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice in Monterey, California for the care and kindness extended to Kathleen during the past five months. A celebration of Kathleen's life will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church 215 Locust N.E. Albuquerque. A private interment will be held at a later time.
