Shirley Marie Gurule Brown, 58, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 28, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Brown and her father, Ismael (Sallie) Gurule. She is survived by her sons, Tommy Brown and Kenny Brown; her three beloved grandchildren, Zoey, Madison and Diego; her mother, Emma Gurule; her five brothers, Peter Gurule, Kenneth Gurule, Jerry Gurule (spouse, Lisa), Bill Gurule, and Keith Gurule (spouse, Janell); and one sister, Diane Gurule Jackson (spouse, Rodney). Shirley was born in Albuquerque on August 3, 1951. She grew up in Peralta, New Mexico and graduated from Los Lunas High School. She worked for the 13th Judicial District Court where she met and married Judge Kenneth Brown. Shirley and Ken were inseparable as they worked together, raised a family, and retired together in Bernalillo, NM. Shirley was a loving and compassionate sister and friend, a devoted mother to her two sons, and adored her three grandchildren who affectionately call her Atu. She will be remembered for her dedication and love for her family, and will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, with the Rev. Fr. William "Bill" Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven. Pallbearers will be Diego Chavez Brown, Peter Gurule, Kenny Gurule, Jerry Gurule, Bill Gurule, and Keith Gurule.
