Obituary for GARCIA

Rosendo Garcia, 91, was born on April 25, 1919 , and a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on June 24, 2010 at home with his loving family at his side. Mr. Garcia is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Millie; his children, Olympia Salas, Clorinda Towle, Priscilla Garcia, Joann Muller, Agnes Barela, Mary Ann Garcia-Withrow, Ross Garcia Jr., Steve Garcia, and Cheryl Garcia; his sister, Beatrice Chavez; 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Mr. Garcia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as an Usher for over 20 years. He was very well known in local politics, and in the 1950s he established the Valley Meat Packing House, located on Coors and Rosendo Garcia Road. Rosendo will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Deacon Santos Abeyta. Final visitation will be Monday, June 28, 2010, at the Church, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Elijah Garcia, Bobby Salas, Rosendo Garcia III, Brian Salas, Michael Withrow, and Jade Garcia. Honorary pallbears will be Richard Metzgar and Nestor Herrera.
