Obituary for CHAVEZ

Juan De Dios Chavez passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2010. Juan is a life long resident of Los Ranchos where he was born to Maximiliano Chavez and Victoriana Sanchez Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Jean; his children and their spouses, Carmen Casados and Robert, Jeanette Miller and Steve, Juan D. Chavez and Rebecca, Randy Chavez, Max Chavez and Margie; They have ten grandchildren, Lisa Chavez, Amanda Romo, Nicole Axt, Frances Renee Chavez, Johnathan Chavez, Maximiliano Chavez, Cheylynne Chavez, Louie Garcia, Justin, and Catherine Fisher; Juan had four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Josh, Carmen Elena and Luke; two brothers, Edward Chavez (late wife Priscilla) and Dennis Chavez (wife Mary); Four sisters, Lore Aguilar (husband Manuel), Jenny Crespin (late husband Joe), Barbara Griego (husband Amadeo), Margaret Lopez (husband Filo); sister-in-laws, Evangeline Lopez (boyfriend Gilbert), and Rose Chavez; brother-in-laws, Trinidad Pacheco and Benny Lucero; as well as many Godchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Maximiliano and Victoriana Chavez; his in-laws, Candelario and Lonicia Lopez; his brothers, Felix, Willie, Oliver, Filomeno and Max Orlando; sister-in-laws, Dina Pacheco and Tonie Lucero; and brother-in-law Ezequiel Lopez. Juan served his country proudly as a U.S. Navy soldier during World War ll and continued his military career in the U.S. Army during the Korean War honorably earning the Bronze Star. He was also a life member of the DAV. A rosary will be held on Thursday June 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church 9502 Fourth Street N.W. Albuquerque, NM. Funeral mass will be on Friday June 25, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnathan Chavez, Maximiliano Chavez, Ted Chavez, Javier Romo, Bryon Axt, Louie Garcia and Phil Lopez; Honorary Pallbearers are Juan's granddaughters, Lisa Chavez, Amanda Romo, Nicole Axt, Frances Chavez, Cheylynne Chavez and Catherine Fisher.
