Carolyn Hinckley Shipley, 92, a resident of Albuquerque, NM for the past four years, and long-time resident of Stamford, CT and El Paso, TX, passed away Sunday morning June 6, 2010, after a brief illness. Beloved wife, mom, and Nana, she is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul S. Shipley of Albuquerque; her son, Galen Pahl Shipley and wife Elizabeth, also of Albuquerque; step-daughter Dale Lawrence of Clearwater, FL; step-daughter Candace Porcelli and her husband Edward Porcelli of Clearwater, FL; brother-in-law Harold G. Cassel of Kent, CT; nephew Graham J. Powell of Darien CT; grandchildren Pahl Charles Shipley, Nicholas S. Shipley, and Erin M. Gasser of Albuquerque, Edward P. Porcelli II of Tampa, FL, and Michael P. Porcelli of Lake Worth, FL; and five great-grandchildren. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Florence O. Hinckley; father, Charles Galen Hinckley; sister, Mary H. Cassel, and niece, Melinda Powell. A 1947 graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in New York, Carolyn was a beautiful and giving person who spent her life caring for her patients, her family and her friends. She was an elegant lady with a twinkle in her eye and a love for dancing, cruises, and bridge parties. Her loss is deeply felt. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park Centennial Urn Garden will be private, with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Las Colinas Village, 500 Paisano St. NE, in Albuquerque.
