Erlinda Martinez Gonzales was born January 4, 1926 in Sherman Oakes, CA. She went be with the Lord early Sunday morning, May 23, 2010, after a gallant fight with Parkinson's and Pancreatitis. Erlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel; elder sister, Christina Martinez-Escalera from Riverside, CA; sister, Elvira Martinez-Ybarra from Lordsburg, NM and son, Peter who died in infancy. Mrs. Gonzales is survived and was cherished by her six children: Jess J. Martinez, (who she raised like another son after both parents died at a very young age) and wife Patricia, Patricia Gonzales- Contreras, Louie Gonzales and wife Vicky, Tommy Gonzales and wife Debbie, Annette Gonzales-Stout and husband Eddie and Paul Gonzales; She leaves behind her grandchildren, Sandra and husband Dr. Les Donaldson, Rhonda and husband Vince Falcone, Jeannette and husband David Snell, Jay Contreras, Colt Gonzales, Eric Gonzales and wife Michelle, Tammy Gonzales-Brown and husband Chris, Ken Martinez and wife Oksana, Kelli Martinez, Logan and Hannah Stout; plus seventeen great-grand children. Erlinda was blessed to be a stay at home mom while her children were in school. Later she worked for Helweig-Farmer as an APS bus driver for about twenty years. Erlinda always possessed the most positive, graceful personality. She exhibited a tremendous amount of compassion, sincerity and respect to family and friends. She was an excellent cook, served up some delicious family meals with fresh home-made tortillas, that were never duplicated by others. We will truly miss this valiant, brave and Godly woman. Services will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4th and Mildred NW. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, off of Paseo del Norte and Wyoming NE. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chris Brown, Jay Contreras, Colt Gonzales, Eric Gonzales, Logan Stout and Michael Vargas. Honorary pallbearers are, Dr. Les Donaldson, Vince Falcone, Ken Martinez, David F. Snell and Eddie Stout. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. ABQ. 505-343-8008
