Ramon Francisco Leyba, 82, passed away on May 13, 2010 after a lengthy illness at his home in Pena Blanca with his family by his side. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Deolinda; three children, Elaine Romero and husband Steve, Elizabeth Miller and husband Doyle, and Raymond Leyba and girlfriend Rachel; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Joshua, Jacqueline, Kailynn and Jerrod; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; two brothers and four sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ramon was born in Pena Blanca, NM to Rafael and Marianita Leyba. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. Ramon was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca and a member of the Society of Saint Joseph in Galisteo. Rosary will be recited for Ramon on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, with visitation one hour prior from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Ramon on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, NM, with burial immediately following the mass. The pallbearers will be Jonathan Romero, Michael Romero, Joshua Leyba, Jerrod Miller, Robert Leyba and Manuel DeAguero. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Sanchez, Arthur Silva, Robert Moore and Alvin Leyba. Ramon's family wishes to thank Odessey Hospice for their care and support throughout his long illness.
