Obituary for REEVES

Randall F. Reeves, was born on July 28, 1916, in McCauley, Texas and died in Albuquerque, NM on May 2, 2010. As a teenager, his parents and four sisters and brother homesteaded in Catron County, NM and later moved to Lovington, NM, where he graduated Salutatorian of the high school class of 1935. Randall subsequently attended New Mexico A&M for one year, before transferring to Texas Tech University, where he graduated in 1940 with a BS degree in Agronomy. Between his junior and senior years, he married Tomazine Morrow in Rogers, Arkansas on January 1, 1939. Randall proudly served as an ensign in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War 11 aboard the landing ship dock, USS Colonial. Throughout his career, he worked as a soil conservationist for the US Department of Agriculture and state of California, first for seventeen years in West Texas before transferring to Northern California in 1956. He had a beautiful singing voice and served as Song Leader and Elder at the Anderson Church of Christ in Northern California for more than forty years. Randall loved the land and was a true environmentalist and organic farmer in Palo Cedro, CA, before those terms became popular. In 1997, Randall and Tomazine moved from their small farm to Albuquerque and became members of the Riverside Church of Christ. Randall and Tomazine celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2009. They are survived by all 11 children: Thomas Zane Reeves, Timothy Randall Reeves, Taron Nyle Reeves, Douglas Wendell Reeves, Sylvan Robin Reeves, Melody Morrow Reeves, Mark Wayne Reeves, Trail Jordan Reeves, Gordon Reeves, Gail Reeves Bowcock and Mary Ann Meideiros; as well as 32 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Randall is survived by a sister Mozelle Littrell of Rogers, Arkansas. Randall lived a life exemplary of his deep religious faith, common sense, generosity, love of nature and travel, pride in his government service, faith in education, and the love of his family. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 4, 2010 at the Riverside church of Christ, 3100 La Orilla Rd.
