Sam (Sam Bass) M. Gonzales, 77, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, April 27, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Ray Gonzales; brother, Joe M. Gonzales; sisters: Dela Elkins and Dolores Yoder; and parents, Jose Gonzales and Carlota Gonzales. Sam is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen G. Gonzales; sons: Ronnie Martinez and wife, Marylou, Bobby Gonzales and wife, Lola, Rick Martinez and wife, Marylou and Donald Gonzales; daughters: Debra Bruno and husband, Joe, Patricia Gonzales and boyfriend, Chuck, Latisha Gonzales and fiance, Nick, and Mandie Gonzales; brother: Leo Ray Gonzales and wife, Lupe; sisters: Anita Archuleta and husband, Manuel; Gina Escobedo and husband, Joe; and Lillie Barreras, sister-in-law, Mary Carillo; and brother-in-law, Nash Gonzales; 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Sam was a six-year Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He worked for Groendyke as a truck driver for 25 years. He enjoyed going to the casino with his beautiful wife and enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren. He was a well known man and touched so many lives. A visitation will be Monday 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE) with a Rosary to follow at Queen of Heaven Church at 7:00 p.m. A Life Celebration Mass will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Martinez, Richard Martinez, Bobby Gonzales, Donald Gonzales, Joseph Bruno, and Ernest Pacheco.
