Obituary for EWING

Mary Helen Cox Ewing, age 87, passed away on April 18, 2010. She was born in Albuquerque to Joseph Edward and Minnie Peterson Cox on Valentines Day 1923. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Davies, Louise Marron, Betty Ann Rankin and Dorothy McCormick. Mary Helen attended Albuquerque High School with classmates who still keep in touch with reunions and newsletters. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BS in Home Economics. Mary Helen was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and honored to be the first Sweetheart of Sigma Chi At UNM. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Albuquerque Junior League. Her greatest source of energy and inspiration was derived from KKG, philanthropies and especially her grandchildren. Mary Helen was made of hugs, chocolate, roses, peaches, love and laughter. She loved music, dancing, parties, bridge, flowers, birds, dogs, gardening, traveling, beaches, skiing, swimming, art, reading and cooking. We will miss her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies. Mary Helen is survived by her two children: Karen Ewing Lewis and her husband Timothy Andrew Lewis; Steven Cox Ewing and is wife Cori Simms Ewing; her grandchildren, Patricia Lynn Erhardt-Lewis and her husband Andrew Erhardt-Lewis; Kelly Alexis Lewis and her husband David (Chuck) Stubbings; Josh Bradley Ewing and his wife Sara Feldstein Ewing; Cai Samantha Buck and her husband Arren Buck; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Timothy Erhardt-Lewis and Ber Davies Ewing along with many cherished relatives, friends and caregivers. We pray that Mary Helen will be reunited with her sisters and her friends. We will miss her but her spirit will live within us and we will keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Services are pending.
