Obituary for PAULEY

William (Bill) Carl Pauley, 80, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ruth (Mickey) Pauley. Bill was born in Denver, Colorado on December 9, 1929 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 through 1955. After serving, he was a self-employed contractor for over 50 years, in California and Colorado. Bill was always happiest when his family was gathered together. He enjoyed a variety of interests which included horses, boating, travel and golf. "Wild Bill" as he was called in his earlier days, never lost his zest for life and is remembered by all as a true character, who, with a twinkle in his blue eyes and a joke for everyone, made friends where ever he went. Friends and family recall Bill as selflessly taking care of them all. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Pfeffer, Pamela Bode and Amy Benson; his sons-in-law, David Pfeffer and Jeffrey Bode; his grandchildren, David Pfeffer II, Melissa Paulk, and their families, Christopher Pfeffer, Jessica Doherty, Dawna Doherty and Scott Benson. Family and friends will honor and remember him in a Memorial Service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow.
