Ernie J. Villas, 37, joined his Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, after complications from a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Brandon, Rachel, and Emma; parents, Nestor and Judy; sister, Esther Wingfield and husband Sean; sister, Angelina Adams and husband Buddy; nieces, Isabella, Sophia, and Olivia; best friend Paul Bryant; and many relatives and friends. Ernie was a graduate of La Cueva High School and later graduated with an Engineering Degree from New Mexico State University, where he was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. While employed at Intel, he received a Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico, but remained an Aggie at heart. Ernie was an avid Steelers fan and also enjoyed hot air ballooning, country dancing, hunting with his dad and entertaining friends. Ernie also enjoyed umpiring and coaching his daughters' softball teams at Eastdale Little League. He was the past Grand Knight at Risen Savior Council #8741. Rosary will be recited for Ernie on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming NE. Celebration of Christian Mass will be held on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Risen Savior Catholic Community with Reverend Monsignor Richard Olona officiating. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the exceptional nurses and doctors at UNM Hospital who cared for Ernie during his long stay.
