Obituary for WEYANT

Lee Elda Weyant went home to the arms of her Savior March 23, 2010 in Bakersfield, CA. Lee was born in Albuquerque during the great flu pandemic of 1918. Her parents, Barton T. and Amy Edith Dickinson, chose Lee to be their daughter - adopting her into their hearts and home at birth. Her father died when Lee was 12 leaving a great hole in her heart. She and her mother then ran a boarding house where Lee worked until graduating from High School in 1934. She later met and married Robert A. Weyant making a home for him and their four children in Albuquerque. Lee worked at various occupations during her lifetime. She managed a Root Beer Barrel, worked at UNM, Lovelace Hospital, and in the cafeteria of a local school. Later in life, Lee became very involved in the Naval Sea Cadet program and Navy League. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2000, at which time she moved to California; and by her daughters Ann Little and Jeannie Weyant. She is survived by her daughter Madeline Gregory of Buena Park, CA; and her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rebecca Weyant of Bakersfield, CA; she leaves behind numerous grandchildren including Stephanie and Jose Aguirre, Joseph and Amanda Weyant, and Damian Gregory and a multitude of friends. A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Christian Center, 8801 South H Street, Bakersfield, CA 93307.
